Detroit Lions: As Stafford went wild, the Seahawks went down

As the last Seattle Seahawks players slid into position to get a jump on the jumbo scrum of press photographers, Matthew Stafford and Matt Stafford met one-on-one at the head of the line.

Detroit Lions star quarterback is joined in the ring by his teammates Laken Tomlinson, Bob Sanders, Evan Adler, Felix Jones, Corey Hilliard, Jerome Felton, Sammie Hill, Tom Lefeged, Jamal Galloway, Ryan Broyles, Corey Hilliard, Jeremy Ross, Joslain Maybin, Jerome Couplin, Marvin Jones, Luke Willson, Rob Moore, Brandon Pettigrew, Nate Burleson, Dwayne Washington, Tony Scheffler, Domata Peko, Brad Jones, Earl Thomas, Stephen Tulloch, Zack Follett, LeRoy Vann and Jack Tatum.

The crowd, which included Pistons’ owner Tom Gores and a number of cheerleaders, received Stafford and Stafford-attached players accordingly, yelling “MNF’s QBs!” “MT8!” “Darn-er” and, ever present on “MNF”, the obligatory “Sleepin’.”

Without changing his stance, Stafford ducked under the ropes, used his left hand to lift Ndamukong Suh (who of course won the dunk title in 2013) over his head and put his fist through the imaginary goalpost. Suh promptly threw a cup of water on Stafford and gave him a whupping. Undeterred, Stafford, in heavy shadow of his dream team – Suh looming over him in silver and black – hurled his hand off Suh and put his hand through the goalpost.

The crowd enjoyed watching Stafford warwrestle for his team’s very existence. The play didn’t go so well. Suh defeated Stafford, scoring on two takedowns. But after the dunk contest was over, Stafford put Suh to bed by putting Suh in the trunk of his Rolls Royce and motoring away.
